Did you know that the federal government now requires an EnergyGuide to be added to most major appliances? That’s pretty good for us as consumers, but what does that mean? You may have seen one before. It is a black and yellow label located somewhere on your appliances that has a lot of information on how much energy that appliance will use.
It should include details about the item such as the manufacturer, model number, type of appliance and the capacity. This information is at the top of the label. It will also have a scale in the middle of the label that compares the energy efficiency of that particular model to similar models of comparable size and type.
At the bottom of the label, you should see a dollar amount that represents the estimated annual energy cost of your appliance. That’s where we can help. If you’ve noticed that your energy bills are higher than usual, it could be because your system needs a tune-up, especially if it is more than 8 years old. Look over our free report, “Guides and Guidelines for Your Home Comfort” with some info that can help you keep your energy costs down this season.
